  Rutgers is one of only 62 members of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU). Rutgers and Princeton are the only AAU institutions in the state.
     
  Fall 2002 enrollment was the largest in Rutgers’ history, with a total of 51,480 students. The demand for a Rutgers education has never been higher. The total number of applications has increased 35 percent over the last 10 years.
